Rec Design is a strategic design and communication studio with over 25 years of experience delivering creative solutions for organizations working to make a positive impact in the world. Since 1999, we have partnered with international institutions, UN agencies, and mission-driven organizations to translate complex ideas into clear, compelling visual narratives.
Our creative foundation is led by three senior partners, each with more than 25 years of professional experience in design and visual communication. Together, they guide a multidisciplinary team of eight designers with complementary expertise across branding, editorial design, digital illustration, data visualization, visual storytelling, and multimedia production. This structure allows us to address a wide range of communication challenges with both strategic depth and creative precision.
Rec Design’s team is multilingual, working fluently in English and Portuguese, with proficiency in French and Spanish, and the capacity to support projects across all six official UN languages, including Arabic. Operating from Brazil (GMT-3) and Portugal (GMT), we collaborate seamlessly across time zones and are accustomed to managing international projects under tight deadlines.
We believe that strong communication design deepens understanding, builds connection, and can drive meaningful social change. Our approach combines strategic thinking, rigorous creative direction, and close collaboration with subject-matter experts to ensure clarity, relevance, and impact in every project. Predominantly women-led, our team brings a proactive, flexible, and empathetic perspective to its work, consistently seeking the most effective design solutions for complex contexts.
Over the past two decades, Rec Design has delivered projects for leading organizations worldwide, including UN Women, UNHCR, UNICEF, UNFPA, UNDP, UNITAR, WHO, Amnesty International, Promundo, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, among others.
