Rec Design led the editorial design and visual storytelling for the UNFPA–UNICEF Joint Programme on the Elimination of Female Genital Mutilation Annual Report 2023, translating a complex, multi-country initiative into a cohesive and accessible publication.
The report combines data, results, and personal stories to communicate progress toward ending FGM, requiring a careful balance between sensitivity and clarity. The design approach prioritised readability and narrative flow, using a structured layout, clear typographic hierarchy, and integrated data visualisation to guide readers through key achievements, challenges, and impact across regions.
Aligned with UNFPA’s visual identity, the publication introduces a consistent and human-centred visual language that supports both advocacy and accountability. Through the integration of photography, testimonials, and evidence-based content, the report reinforces the programme’s global reach and its commitment to accelerating change while ensuring that the voices and experiences behind the data remain visible.
