For UNFPA Arab States, Rec Design developed the editorial design and visual storytelling for The Invisible Burden: The Mental Health Needs of Gender-Based Violence Responders in Humanitarian Settings in the Arab States Region.
The report brings visibility to the often-unseen emotional and psychological pressures faced by frontline professionals supporting survivors of gender-based violence in humanitarian settings. Drawing on the experiences of practitioners across five countries, it combines personal realities with evidence to make a compelling case for placing staff wellbeing at the heart of sustainable GBV response systems.
Our design approach was shaped by the sensitivity of the subject. A restrained visual language, strong editorial hierarchy and carefully considered data visualization help communicate difficult findings with clarity and humanity, creating space for both the evidence and the experiences behind the numbers.
The result is a publication that makes complex research accessible without diminishing its emotional weight, supporting UNFPA in turning evidence into a clear call for greater institutional care and action.
